It's a long day, and the priciest of these trips, simply because the crater conservation and descent fees are what they are. You'll leave Arusha before dawn, drive up through farmland to the rim, and head down onto a floor of roughly 260 square kilometres, surrounded by walls six hundred metres high. It has the highest concentration of large mammals in the country, and it's the most realistic place in Tanzania to see black rhino, though it's never a sure thing. You'll be back in Arusha in the evening.
