Nyerere — camps on the Rufiji
Good to know: this page describes a type of place, not one property.
The camp we actually book depends on your dates, your budget and what's free when we
quote, so the useful part here is the decision. Your shortlist of named camps comes
with your itinerary.

Camps on the Rufiji are the reason to head south. You can't do a boat safari on the northern circuit, and an afternoon on the water is a completely different way to see the same animals.
The Rufiji is the reason to come south. Here you can go on safari by boat, which changes the whole feel of a day. You're at eye level with hippos and crocodiles instead of looking down from a vehicle. And walking safaris are allowed here, which they aren't in most of the north.
The trade-off: the game viewing is different, not better. You'll see fewer big cats than in the Serengeti. Come for the boats, the walking and the wonderful emptiness, not to tick off the Big Five.
