Central Serengeti — classic tented camps

In Serengeti

Good to know: this page describes a type of place, not one property. The camp we actually book depends on your dates, your budget and what's free when we quote, so the useful part here is the decision. Your shortlist of named camps comes with your itinerary.

The area

Permanent tented camps in the central Serengeti put you within half an hour of the Seronera river, where lion, leopard and cheetah live all year round. That matters most outside the migration months, when where you sleep decides what you get to see.

The decision

The central Serengeti is the year-round answer. Seronera has resident lion, leopard and cheetah whether the migration is nearby or not, so a week here is never a wasted week. That's exactly what you want if your dates are set by school terms or work, not by the herds.

The trade-off: it's the busiest part of the park, and in August you'll be sharing good sightings. If peace and quiet matters more to you than a sure thing, we'd point you north or south instead, depending on the month.
